Magnets for Automotive

magnets for automotive
With the widespread of electric vehicles, automotive thermal management systems have imposed stricter requirements on component performance.

Electronic water/oil pumps, as core components, are particularly crucial in the system. The rotor made of a bonded magnetic compound has huge advantages in lightweight and quality controllability. Bonded magnetic compounds like Ferrite/PPS and NdFeB/PPS are both applied to pump rotors, and are suitable for both internal and external rotor structures. The blade and the rotor can be made by injection molding as a whole. Or you can just make the rotor part by injection molding, the blade can be made of other materials by secondary injection.

Leveraging the precise dimensional control of the injection magnet, the rotor has advantages in dynamic balance. In addition, our compound is resistant to high and low temperature impact of -40 degrees to 150 degrees without cracking or other problems.

Sensor Ring of Automotive

From the initial vehicle speed sensor to intelligent driving, the application of a magnetic sensor ring gains popularity. At present, rubber magnet is used as raw materials for some magnetic sensors, but the mechanical properties of rubber make it unsuitable as an exposed component (it will be deformed easily by the impact from stone, and the performance will be affected in high and low temperature). Compared with injection magnets, the magnetic properties of rubber magnets are lower ((BH) max≤1.4MGOe), which can’t meet long-range sensing needs. Bonded magnetic compounds like Ferrite with PA6 or PA12 binder can meet these requirements.

The injection sensor ring that made by insert molding with the metal ring has advantages of strength, toughness, and anti-collision, which enables the magnetic ring to be directly installed on the wheel hub. In addition, the surface magnetic field strength of the injection magnet is higher than the magnetic rubber, which enlarges the space between the induction probe and the magnetic ring.
The electronic expansion valve (EEV) serves as a critical throttling component within refrigeration systems, playing a pivotal role in energy consumption reduction. These valves are compact, possessing numerous poles and having stringent dimensional requirements. Operating continuously with refrigerants, they must withstand extreme temperatures without cracking.
Electronic Expansion Valve Rotors in Thermal Management Systems

To address these challenges, injection-molded rotors made from Ferrite/PPS and NdFeB/PPS compounds prove highly effective for EEVs:

Ferrite/PPS Series:

Purpose: Ideal for low-power motors.

Magnetic Properties: Achieves a maximum energy product ((BH)max) of 1.6 MGOe.

Advantages: Cost-effective, corrosion-resistant, and demagnetization-resistant at high temperatures.

NdFeB/PPS Series:

Purpose: Suited for higher-power electronic expansion rotors.

Magnetic Properties: Yields a maximum energy product ((BH)max) ranging from 2 to 8 MGOe.

Advantages: Offers exceptional magnetic strength, enabling smaller, lighter components.

As the demand for automotive thermal management systems grows, we remain committed to developing injection-molded magnetic materials that align with the design requirements of next-generation expansion valve rotors. Our ongoing efforts focus on achieving higher magnetic properties, cost efficiency, and improved resistance to high and low-temperature demagnetization. Together, we contribute to energy conservation and environmental protection.

Induction Magnetic Rings in Automotive Applications

Induction Magnetic Rings in Automotive Applications

Induction magnetic rings find widespread use in various automotive components, including sunroofs, wipers, seats, and windows. These rings come in two main variants: separate injection-molded magnetic rings and magnetic rings with metal inserts.

The key advantages of injection-molded magnetic rings lie in their exceptional mechanical properties and consistent dimensions including:

Direct Assembly on Motor Shafts: Due to the robustness of injection-molded magnets, magnetic rings can be directly assembled onto motor shafts without the risk of cracking or detachment during use.

Ferrite/PA12 Recommendation: When choosing between materials, Ferrite/PA12 is highly recommended over Ferrite/PA6. The Ferrite/PA12 series exhibits a lower absorption rate, resulting in improved dimensional stability across diverse environments.
Mechanical Properties and Processing Fluidity: Our developed material surpasses sintered magnets and other alternatives in terms of mechanical strength and processing fluidity. Achieving these properties is challenging, but injection magnets provide an effective solution.
In summary, injection-molded magnetic rings contribute to automotive lightweight design and enhance overall comfort.
Automotive headlight steering motors are made of NdFeB/PPS by injection molding. Because of the diversification of the structure design, an injection magnet provides a good solution for the production of a semi-arc rotor, reduces the amount of material without sacrificing other desirable traits, which is beneficial to the lightweight of the car. Injection molding with shaft is convenient for mass production, and the high temperature resistance is up to 200 degrees, which significantly improves the problem of high temperature demagnetization. Its excellent processing flow and corrosion resistance (thanks to plastic coating to prevent intergranular corrosion) make injection molding of small shaped rotors easy, providing a better solution for automotive lightweight and intelligence.
